Noor Life

This morning began early with a breakfast meet-up and apparel pick-up at 7am.  After gearing up in our new kicks and gear, the crowd was off.  Some ran, some walked, some biked.  But we all met up in front of the Washington Monument for the official marriage ceremony between Chef Art Smith and lifelong partner, Jesus Salgueiro.

The ceremony was beautiful.  It began with a strings set playing romantic and upbeat music.  The official ceremony came next, which not only highlighted the momentous occasion for Chef Art & partner Jesus, but also the weight and complexity of the gay marriage issue in our country.  Art & Jesus thoughtfully selected to get married in front of the Lincoln memorial because of the significance between Lincoln, freedom and human rights.  All men (and women) are created equal and should be honored and respected as such.

After a short prayer/reflection Art & Jesus were officially bonded (and legally married in Washington, D.C.).  The long walk back was followed by a quick clean up and change and then brunch.  Fried chicken?  I think so.
